Re-Opening This Spring

  Seeew...

If you follow us on Instagram you know by now that we have found a new location! Or in other words...we've found our way back home!

We have not posted details yet on our website as we are in the process of unpacking, painting, having our cutting counter constructed, setting up our office, studying the area traffic and everything else that needs to be done. You can bet I will share all of the details (address, phone number, etc.) when we are 100% ready.  For the past two months we've been creating new kits and running some fabulous sales in our on-line store. Our sincerest thanks to those who have made purchases! That's what keeps doors open whether in-store or on-line, seeew THANK YOU!

The "Mothership" and I both love the new location! The size is similar to our original location (2005-2008)  and there is plenty of parking!  For the first time ever we have very high ceilings! Do you know what this means???? We can hang quilts without them messing with your hair!  We've been sitting in there nightly imagining the possibilities. The more time we spend in there, the more ideas we get! One challenge with the high ceilings.....our chandeliers. They are rather iconic and have been with us since day one but at this time we haven't found a way to incorporate them. I suppose we will get there!

Here's a peak at one corner with some of the furniture we are keeping. The "Mothership" found this red furniture on one of her road trips to California waaaaay back in 2004! What should we put in this corner? Hmmm...maybe some stitchery? Maybe some Christmas? What about yarn? Choices. Choices. Choices!

IMG_9303 (1)

I know one thing that is going to look amazing in this new space! Our Farm Girl Vintage Quilt! In fact, prior to the day we moved out of our old location, two of our Farm Girl Vintage Block Of The Month members dropped by to show us their quilts!

Farm-Girl-Vintage-Quilt (2)

For 15 months, eager quilters joined us each month to receive four block kits which were planned by Jan (a.k.a. the "Mothership"). The final two months they received their borders and cornerstones, etc.

I can testify that this coordination of color took my mom and Christine hours and hours, night after night for months! The kits for each block had to then be cut and our own blocks had to be sewn. Not only did they sew each set of blocks for their own quilts, but they also sewed blocks for my clothesline that you may have seen in our Shoppe.  If you have never participated in a Block of The Month (B.O.M.) it's a great way to keep you motivated to finish a project. For those quilts that are going to use a ton of fabric, it's also a great way to spread out the cost over a period of time.

Pictured above is longtime customer Elaine V. who was so happy to bring her completed quilt in! It was the first time Jan got to see all of her hard work and planning put together! Elaine did a fabulous job with her quilt!

Bev-Farm-Girl (2)

This is Bev! You may have seen Bev at one of our monthly Breakfast Clubs. P.S. the next one is Saturday, March 18 10am-12pm at Langdon Farms in Aurora, Oregon!

I can tell you that Bev is one of our biggest fans, gives great hugs AND...she is going to be only minutes from our new location.

The only reason she knows where it is, is because Bev came to our Breakfast Club this month.

Be like Bev. Bev is fun. Seeew is Elaine. LOL.

You may have noticed that Bev's border is smaller. She chose to do that because she had a particular spot in her house where she wanted it to hang. This is totally something we would do too!

Since I took the picture above, Bev had her quilt "quilted" and joined us at our recent February Breakfast Club. Check out what she did with the back!

IMG_9198

Again..be like Bev. Bev is fun. Seeew is Elaine.

Patty and Karen also joined us at the February Breakfast Club and they too brought their Farm Girl Vintage Quilt. For their quilts they chose an aqua border that is just as striking as the yellow! I tried to get pictures, but the lighting in the venue was a bit dull. I'll work on it.

Don't you just love Farm Girl Vintage quilts???? They look good in just about anything!

Oh...Patty and Karen are fun too. Be like Patty, Karen, Bev and Elaine.

IMG_9188

If you participated in our in-store Farm Girl Vintage B.O.M. Jan would like you all to know she will be planning a special party once we are settled in the new location. We appreciate your patience and can't wait to see what you all did with your quilts! If you weren't able to join us for this one, rumor has it she may run one again seeew keep your eyes peeled to the screen and your ear to the ground.

If you unsubscribe from our daily email inspiration, you're going to miss out on the fun and details!

FYI...I've covered that we closed our former location two months ago and have been sharing hints while we looked for a new location. Everything I'm sharing with you is the creative process and a behind-the-scenes creative look at what it takes to relocate a store. WHEN WE ARE READY WITH THE DETAILS TO REOPEN (including address, phone number, and opening day) WE WILL SHARE THOSE DETAILS HERE, ON OUR WEBSITE, AND ALL OF OUR SOCIAL MEDIA.

That's it for today! I've got lots of work to do seeew that we can be freed up to watch "This Is Us!"

Stay Seeew-cial ~ Brian

Kimberbell Basics Charm Pack Winner Announcement #Winning

Darling-Little-Dickens-2

Seeew...

We have another winner announcement! I'm telling you there will be seeew much winning your head will spin!

But first, do you know who else is winning?

That's right! The "Mothership!" She has been buzzing about in the "creative hive" planning projects to decorate our new location!

Remember that stack of Darling Little Dickens she was cutting?

6a0120a5f3f908970b01b8d25eeaac970c-800wi

Well, she decided to make the Tumblers quilt from Fresh Family Traditions by the lovely Sherri McConnell. Our finished sample is approximately 37" x 51" which is the perfect size to hang over a sweet crib and for the nursery in general.

The collection is chalk full with sweet little ducks, bunnies, bears, bees and...LOOK AT THOSE SHEEP!

Just an FYI, the pattern in the book is for a larger quilt (57" x 66") in case someone gets the book out and sees a different size.

Darling-Little-Dickens-3 (1)

I cannot believe people have overlooked this collection. It is as the name implies....DARLING! The quilt goes together like a dream!

Personally, I find it genius to throw in peas and carrots in a baby line.

When I think of baby food, a gorgeous ensemble of pureed peas comes to mind!

Nom..nom...nom!

15000004163

Doesn't it make you hungry?

6a0120a5f3f908970b01bb0977a329970d-800wi

Fabrics for children are my big ?

When we offer bright, people want light and pastel.

When we offer those options, people want bright and bold. We personally like ours with a more classy vintage feel much like Darling Little Dickens which was designed by Lydia Nelson, one of Moda's newest designers! The fabric collection is available in our on-line store and it's currently on sale!

I have one more thing to show you ....

Great-Granny-Squared (1)

Yes! It's a Great Granny Squared in Fig Tree's Chestnut Street! Freshly pieced and ready for quilting! Isn't it pretty? It's going to look fabulous in the new space! If you don't have the book Great Granny Squared you can order it with us by clicking here. Someone asked me the other day about how they order products they see on the blog. They didn't know they could click on the links! Seeew, yes you click on the links and we will get the items right out to you! "

Now for the moment you've all been waiting for! With the assistance of the " Random Number Generator" the winner of our Kimberbell Basics Charm pack is....

Marilyn Warner!

That's it for today! I'll be back with another contest seeew stay tuned! We have much to do to get our new location ready seeew we won't be releasing any details until we are 100%. "Come What May...I Know The Way"

Seeew...

Remember in January when I posted "We Know The Way" from Disney's newest animated tale, "Moana?" Well..let's just say we've found the "heart" of our next location.

Ya know, I can relate to ole' Moana. I'm not one to listen to anyone who says you can't do something. I also know that you sometimes need the wisdom of your elders to get beyond the hesitation. The stingray I suppose is the "Mothership", the boats are our quilts about to come out of their hidden location and that green light? Well, you'll have to wait and see!

"Scars can heal and reveal just where you are."

Um...someone clearly bought the movie and has watched it like....five times. LOL.

I'll be back with our winner announcement from Florence and a new contest soon! In the meantime, check the photos below to see what will be arriving in 2017!

Our New Florence Quilt Kit & Give-Away Chance To Win!

Florence-Flamingo-Quilt-Kit-20

Seeew...

Before Florence flies South (and trust me, she will as we cannot make anymore kits with these fabrics) I wanted to do a little encore wrap up! Plus, I wanted to offer you another chance to engage with us and win something! You do like to win, right? Granted we can't give you all a car but what we can give you is the gift of sewing yet another project!

However, let's focus on Florence for a minute. Florence is...a Flamingo.

I love how they choose their mate. LOL.

I don't think Florence would have a problem because she is gorge.  BTW, we only have two kits left seeew click here if you want it!  Florence has like...nine ensembles of bright, cheerful colors! Just in case someone is out there thinking, "Flamingos are supposed to be pink"....don't worry, we've got it covered!

Florence-Flamingo-Quilt-Kit-21

This quilt isn't literal. The beauty of creating is that a flamingo can be any color you want it to be! I'm sure there are plenty of pinks out there that all nine Flamingos could be pink if that's your desire! I will add that I love how Melissa Hoffman (@fiddlestitches) chose a simple quilting design for this quilt. We didn't want to distract from the flamingos!

Complete tangent but I just realized why I love the name Florence.

160855

It's everybody's favorite TV mom, Carol Brady (aka...Florence Henderson!) Hard to believe she passed in November, but we will always have her in those Brady Bunch re-runs!

Florenace-Pineapple

Seeew let's talk about those fabrics for a minute. While the "Mothership" used a variety of manufacturers and designers, I can tell you that some of these prints are from the Lewis & Irene Tropicana collection. I also see prints from Me & My Sister Designs, SummerFest by April Rosenthal, Essential Dots from Moda, Bumble Berries by the Jungs for Moda...oh and I see a little bit of Pam Kitty!

Florence-Flamingo-Quilt-Kit-23 (1)

My favorite Flamingos of course are the green and aqua!

Florence-Flamingo-Quilt-5 (1)

Seeew with all of these bright, happy colors getting me inspired I figured today we would offer you a chance to win this all new Kimberbell Basics Charm Pack! All you have to do is leave a comment below before 11:59pm Tuesday, February 21 for a chance to win!

Now before I go, I took this photo above at Disney's Animal Kingdom with my first iPhone in 2014. My favorite part of that park is the lush entry which is known as the Oasis. They of course, have Flamingos! Since the park opened in 1998 (I'm trying to find my footage from the Today show because I was there!) it had always been a daytime park. Meaning...it closed between 5pm-7pm depending on the season. For the first time in its nearly 20 years they will offer nighttime entertainment with the all-new Rivers of Light. Take a peak! BTW...Michael Curry's design studio is located in Scappoose, Oregon! Mind...blown! Who knew?

For now you'll have to excuse me as we have a new office to move into before we get into our new store space! Don't forget to leave a comment in the comments for your chance to win our giveaway and don't forget to support the Shoppe! Thank you to everyone who has continually supported our shop during this transition! Trust me, we know who you are! Your support makes giveaways like these possible!

Lloyd & Lola Darling Little Dickens Give Away!

Lloyd-Lola-Quilt-3

Seeew...

The last month around here has been filled with constant creativity! If you thought for a second we were done...not a chance. To our supporters, you know I have told all of you to stay tuned into this blog, and I truly hope you are. As I look over the orders that continue to come in, I see so many names that I recognize and it is very much appreciated. We also see many new names seeew if that's you, welcome and thank you!  I said we would discuss things about our physical store location when the time is right, but we still are not 100% "there" yet. The subject encompasses seeew many things that I have broken it down into categories and honestly...I don't have time for that.

Today...I'm simply going to remain focused on the present. If you don't, you miss out.

Chance-1

During this downtime not only have we been creating but we've also been spending a lot of time together as family. In fact, some of them insist on getting their faces into our business.

That's Chance pictured above! He's my little Lhasa and he will be four this year! Has it been that long? He somehow reminds me of these adorable little sheep below but come to think of it, he sort of reminds me of that Llama's face at the top. He's a Lhasa Llama. LOL.

Darling-Little-Dickens-White (1)

Have you seen this collection yet?

It's called Darling Little Dickens and it is precious as precious can be. Sheep, bears, bees, ducks and bunnies...there are ample choices for the cuteness factor. If you prefer softer, neutral shades for your favorite little one, this collection is for you. The itty bitty prints and colors work for boys and for girls.

Jenna, my niece, is now ten and lately she's starting to express her creativity by selecting fabrics and telling my mom what she wants. Ever since Darling Little Dickens arrived she had been telling us she wanted a quilt made with some of the fabrics. She also insisted she have a quilt with llamas. I honestly have no idea where her fascination with llamas has come from, but nonetheless, the "Mothership" knew exactly the pattern she would use.

Enter Lloyd & Lola. Pattern available here.

Lloyd-Lola-quilt

We love Jenna's selection! She loves polka dots and insisted the little polka dot print be her background. For more contrast between the llama and the background you could also use a solid that is a smidge darker like these gorgeous backgrounds for a more mature Lloyd & Lola.

Linens_image

Darling-Little-Dickens-PinkGreen

I love these soft greens and pinks. You know....you can even do Easter with a few of these prints. Think outside of the box.

That little dot though is the definition of sweet.

Lloyd-Lola-Quilt-9

The quilting was done by the lovely Melissa Hoffman of Fiddlestitches. No...she's not a store, but she has been helping us look seeew good with her amazing quilting since 2006! Even her more basic designs (as shown in Lloyd & Lola) always compliment the quilt instead of taking away from it. Now, we just need to get it bound and to Jenna's bedroom it goes!

Pictured below are the puddle blues from the collection. I love the soft hue and it pairs up beautifully with the "toast" (I call it taupe) from the collection.

Darling-Little-Dickens-Blue (1)

As you can see the "Mothership" is pairing up the puddle blue, toast and the cloud white. She's been cutting for a fun little project that I will show you later....

Darling-Little-Dickens-Blues (1)
BTW...I've been able to catch up on a lot of movies and shows since our new chapter began.

Um...is anyone loving "This Is Us?"

How did I not know about this show? Even Priscilla "Queen of the Dessert" knew about this show before I did. I sent her a text, "Um Priscilla...do you know about this show?" and she was like, "OMG I looooooooove that show!"

I don't watch a lot of network television seeew I literally just discovered it two nights ago but....the "Mothership" and I are hooked. Amazing writing. Seeew far my favorite character is Kate and my favorite episode is "Pilgrim Rick." I lost it when Kevin decides to pass on the pilgrim hat. I have many more episodes to catch up on, so that may change, but seeew far those are my favorite things about the show.

I'm telling you this show is so good, I even shed a tear during the After Show for the "Pilgrim Rick" episode:

Alright, that's it for today! As the title implies, yes we are doing a giveaway here on the blog! One lucky winner will win the Darling Little Dickens Charm Pack pictured below. Be sure to leave a note in the comments below by 11:59pm PST February 13 to be eligible to win! I sometimes wonder if anyone actually reads these entries. LOL. I get so many emails that write to me about something I showed here, so remember... I've included links directly to the product in this entry. We appreciate your continued support!

Can't wait to see the many of you who signed up for February's Breakfast Club! We've got one of the biggest crowds we've ever had for this monthly event so we definitely feel the love!  Stay Seeew-cial ~ Brian

The blocks in this program will feature beautiful 100% hand-dyed wool barns set on textured backgrounds. We have covered all of the details of the program here and we hope you will join us.

Sunny-Chestnut-Kit2 (1)

Now...I hope you all are enjoying our February Super Bolt Sale and that you are ready for lots of new! We've been working on so many things that it's difficult for me to pick just one. Seeew...don't worry because I'm going to show them all to you!

Pictured below is our new Chestnut Street Quilt. Can I just mention how absolutely lovely those fabrics in our kit look against that aqua cutting mat above? I love that Lori Holt brought some life to those boring green mats. Genius.

Sunny-Chestnut-Street-Quilt2

One thing I know for sure after doing this for 12 years is...you absolutely know you're going to love a quilt when it looks gorgeous without quilting. Oh sure there may be a few wrinkles but it is a blank canvas for everything your imagination can dream up! This quilt was a dream to sew together and the colors are a delight on the eyes.

Florence-Flamingo-Quilt-5

Ahhh...you've discovered Florence.  She's a Flamingo with nine different ensembles and she wears them all beautifully! You can view the entire quilt by clicking here. You'll notice that the "Mothership" even went as far to package each flamingo's fabrics individually in our kit to help you with placement when sewing your quilt together. Now, that's going the extra mile which is something we always do around here!

These kits are going quickly seeew don't write to me next year when you see it on Pinterest.

Florence-Flamingo-10

I can't help but notice how whimsical these Flamingos might also look with some of the Kimberbell Basics as shown in this new Fat Quarter Bundle.

Fq_maskib_col

There are two other projects in the works including this cute little Easter project using Lori Holt's new fabrics....

Bunny-Runner

And another new project using our favorite fabrics from American Jane. Here is just a picture of the fabrics as we are piecing it now!

Hop-Skip-And-A-Jump-Fabrics2

If you just can't wait to see what our kit will make, you can always order American Jane patterns here.
