Today we hosted the "Mothership's" (a.k.a. Jan for the newbies) monthly Breakfast Club and as expected, our eager club goers were waiting in a line to get in! I see Lynn, Patty, Eyvonne and Linda are near the front of check-in! For the month of July we had a "Christmas In July" theme. I say it over and over again...you need to at least begin selecting your Christmas fabrics now if you have any hope of having your projects ready to decorate your home in November & December.
As you can expect from Jan's Breakfast Club...the featured project was super cute and is pictured above! Our group of anxious quilters received materials to make all three projects -including the jar, lid and cookie cutter! We haven't finished the embroidery on the towel yet, but is this not just darling? I mean...how can you not smile? Believe it or not though, nobody was even looking at this pattern when I had it on the floor. Seeew like clockwork - everyone now wants it. I continue to be enchanted by the way Quilt World flows. Anyway, if you want to join us for our next Breakfast Club you need to register by clicking here. I've included all information in the link seeew I won't be repeating it here. The next one is Saturday, August 27 9am-11am. We keep the featured project a secret until the club meets but helloooo....judging by these pics, I think I will sign up right now!
Is this "Hot Hexie" not the cutest? It can serve as a hot pad/pot holder that can also make a great gift idea for your friends. Add a cookie cutter along with a recipe card (maybe even a gift card to Hollyhill Quilt Shoppe & Mercantile) <----Smooth Brian, very smooth - and you will be the talk of your gift exchanges! Little tip from the Mothership; You can make the canister jar wrap in a few different styles to change out with the seasons!
I hadn't thought about it before, but it is a lot of work to prepare for a two hour "club!" Over the last two days, both Jan and Christine spray painted lids, ran around to every store they could think of to find the glass knobs, canning jar cookie cutters, and made it back in time to cut and package up all this goodness for our guests!
BTW...they do all of this in addition to working our Shoppe floor (which is a whole new world Jasmine), cutting and packaging our Farm Girl B.O.M kits, our Barn Girl Kits, our shop kits, process incoming inventory, sew the projects up so you you can see them...the list goes on and on.
Speaking of samples, here's a new sample Dorene just recently finished piecing with some adorable Lil' Red fabric...and of course Jan has made complete quilt kits here! When I say complete I mean complete. The book, pattern, the fabric to make the entire quilt top including binding. Our kits are made ahead of time. Do you know what happens when we don't have kits made up? People come in and want us to make the quilt exactly like ours. Seeew that's why we kit.
If anyone thought for a minute that having a quilt shop was just sitting around sewing and employing friends...LOL. Mmmk. Seeew I send a big thank you to both the "Mothership" and Christine for their countless hours of dedication in making our Shoppe look seeew good and providing me with plenty of content.
And if you love it or just like what we do please...don't tell it to me, tell it to them! I'm simply kind-of-like the Quilt-A-Razzi...LOL.
"Look over here. Work the camera. Own it. Work it."
While Priscilla "Queen of the Dessert" is out on her dreamy Summer Vaca, Andrea from Cafe West Linn catered the breakfast snack for this month's Breakfast Club! If you haven't been to her cafe, she is the new owner and is super sweet! She's just two doors down from the Shoppe and is a great example of why you should #shoplocal.
The fabrics used in the featured project are Lori Holt's Cozy Christmas. We have the entire collection but it's getting picked at daily. The collection is also available in flannels which would make adorable pajamas!
What else can I show ya? Oh trust me, I have plenty more where this came from but you'll have to wait until next time! Don't forget to sign up for the August Breakfast Club on August 27, 2016 9am-11am. Over half of the seats have been filled in just one day!
Stay Seeew-cial! ~ Brian
