Seeew...we...meet...again. It's been awhile, don't ya think? We have Polly Minick and Laurie Simpson in da' "house" that Quilts built (that's like...what I'm calling "it" this week). If you don't know who Laurie and Polly are...then um...you can't talk to me. Like...ever. Ba-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha. BTW...as we speak we even have a special group of "hookers" upstairs in the classroom! I saw them on a street corner carrying their wool this morning and I thought, "These gals could make some fun rugs." In fact, here's one of them now...our most famous "hooker" of all...Cynthia!
Here she is at the end of day one of The Victory Tour. Now I gotta' tell ya...Cynthia is my favorite type of quilter. She's funny, sweet and she attends all of our events. She's kind of like those people who stake out their route during a parade. You know the kind. They bring their lawn chairs, their umbrella's...and don't even think about stealing their spot! Here...Cynthia shows you how it's done. She's got her Hampton Tote bag from our Me & My Sister Event last February, and her Sit Upon from Fig Tree Threads. She even won a Patrick's Quilt Kit from Laurie and Polly! Look for Cynthia at our Fig Tree Quilts Weekend with Joanna Figueroa in September, Everything's Coming up Rosie with Carrie Nelson AND...this year's Homespun & Holly with Anne Sutton of Bunnyhill Designs, the gals of Sweetwater, Debbie Busby and Terri Staats! I'm telling ya'...she's a loyal Hollyhill fan!
Seeew...yes, we have Polly Minick and Laurie Simpson here this weekend teaching their Victory Tour Workshop unveiling Laurie's all-new Victory Girls quilt and sharing all of Polly's famous hooked rugs. I love these ladies. They design beautiful things and as a bonus...they are super nice! Their newest collection, "American Banner Rose" will be out in stores this fall. Pictured here is the very popular "3 Brothers Farm" quilt using fabrics from their "Clermont Farms" collection. P.S. Um...there sits Miss Betsy. You know the one I'm talkin' about. Thee...Betsy. The one that like...kind of contributed something major to our country? Yeah...her. If I had time, I could like seeew circles around her. Ba-ha ha ha ha ha ha. Speaking of contributions to our country, enjoy this musical inspiration showcasing some of our nation's iconic moments and icons, including Ryan White, Walt Disney, Oprah Winfrey, Martin Luther King Jr., September 11, the crew of the space shuttle Challenger, and many, many more. It is by far, the most moving film segment of one of my all time favorite attractions at Epcot, the American Adventure. It is a reminder to us all how important passion, dreams and imagination are in this country!
Speaking of imagination, we use it quite a bit around here. My mom (Jan) and I have active imaginations and we are always trying to think of something even better! Here's just a peak inside the entrance to the classroom and the Applecore Table Runner my mom put together using various Minick & Simpson collections. How do you like dem' apples?
We love to host events! And we go all-out for the occassion! Apparently when I was a toddler and saw a flag I would yell out, "Flag flying in the wind." Seeew my mom brought in...party favors for all...themed...to what else..."flags flying in the wind!"
And the imaginations don't stop with us. Priscilla, our delightful caterer, once again creates delicious meals to enjoy. And she can get pretty creative with a dessert too! Pardon me but after eating these luscious dishes, I feel like I have more "sides" than a menu. Mmmmhmmm. Work it out Brian. Work...it....out!
And last but not least...the gran-daddy of them all....the menu item that Priscilla seeew kindly left behind for me in the fridge and the reason why I have a date with the gym every morning....ta-da!
When I'm in a depression and no one can find me...have someone go check upstairs in the classroom. I'll be the one laying on the floor next to the fridge...tears streaming from my eyes, and a fork in my mouth. Don't call 9-1-1...because this too...shall pass. Alright...enjoy my dear "Gaga"...as she takes us out with her all-new "Americano!" "La-la-la-la-la-la....AAAAHHH AHAAAAMERICANO...." Yes, I am that crazy. While I wish she'd put a few clothes on from time to time or eat a cracker, I find her to be fascinating. I will be back tomorrow with new updates from the Victory Tour and a look around the Minick & Simpson section of our "Shoppe!"
Here's to inspiration and your imagination! ~ Brian
P.S. This is what I look like in the morning!
Brian -- How great to see you and the blog back. My sister and her friend are having a wonderful time. Wish I was there but I hear the classroom was full to bursting. They had lots of goodies for show and tell.
