There will be a parade here in our historic town of Willamette on Saturday, December 19 at 10am. This is a yearly event here in our community and it seems to be growing each year! Of course, now that we have "Pickleweed" open on the other side of the street...there is a new shopping experience to keep the parents occupied! The day will be filled with carolers, horse carriage rides and a visit with Santa himself. Now, in the past Hollyhill Quilt Shoppe & Mercantile has been the "locale" of choice for the one and only Mrs. Claus. However, it would appear that between preparing Kris's suit for the big flight and her own Christmas baking, she may not be able to make her yearly visit. I guess we will just have to wait and see.
In the meantime, our very talented piecer...Lisa Goodloe...whipped up this delightful new panel wall hanging featuring the new "Peppermint Cottage" collection from Diane Knott for Clothworks. With quilting by Monica Mesdag of "Freckle Patch Quilts" this is sure to be a treasured "Hollyhill" heirloom that ends up in our holiday quilt collection.
Remember the whimsical trees from "Homespun & Holly" that I posted last week? Well, Terri Staats of Sweet Treasures has released the pattern and it is now available here. Terri has a great new book out called, "5 Fabulous Lap Quilts" which is the first in her new "Fab 5 Series." She actually loaned us the Cobblestones and French Cherry samples (which use Moda's Glace fabrics) to display in the "Shoppe." They compliment our popular "Frosted Windowpanes" quilt! What we love about the French Cherry quilt (see below)is that it is so easy to visualize the various color combinations! Since we love Christmas quilts a simple switch of the blue to green would add even more holiday cheer! We unfortunately do not have any kits for this sample...but the books are available in our "Shoppe" and here if you'd like to plan your own quilt!
Of course...don't forget the fabulous "Frosted Windowpanes" quilt which hangs so elegantly on our main wall. We only have a few kits left of this holiday heirloom! Of course, again we have Monica's incredible quilting on display!
Alright...well it is getting late and I need to tend to the "Shoppe" floor before I head on home. I promise to share a delightful story of "miniature" proportions in the next day or so. It's a "tail" of a miracle that serves as a gentle reminder of the true meaning of Christmas....Here's to inspiration! ~ Brian
